On Saturday, April 21 some- time after 9 p.m fire crews responded to a report of a. structure fire at the Lassen County Fair grounds located at 195 Russell Ave. According to the Susanville Interagency Fire Center, many items were saved, but the building was reported as being a total loss. In a press release from the Susanville City Police Department, investigators have determined the fire's cause is likely arson, In addition to fire crews, the Susanville POlice Department, SEMSA and the Lassen County Sheriff Department also responded to the scene. . According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, city police officers were Called back to the fair grounds on Monday, April 24 when three boYs were reported trespass, ing near the scene of the fire. Fair Manager Jim Wolcott sa d he had an ifituition to go the fairgrounds on Monday night where he saw the boys and called the police. The officers contacted the boys, all 13 years of age, at the fairgrounds and evidence was collected from them juve- niles, that linked them to the fire' After being interviewed, a Susanville Police Department detective eventually arrested the boys who were booked into the Lassen County Juvenile Detention Facility. ,On Tuesday, April 24 .a Susanville police detective located a fourth boy who was determined to have been involved with the fire. The boy 14, was also inter. viewed and arrested on the sa ne charges and booked in to the Lassen. County. JuVenile Detention Facility. The case has been referred to both the Lassen County Juvenile Probation Department and to the Lassen County District Attorney's Office.
